I don’t know about you, but taking my family of five to the beach tends to be a little… hectic.
Yes sure, it’s a fun day out, great family time, super rewarding etc etc. But it’s also a lot of effort. You have to really invest the time to be organised.
So I will take anything I can to make our beach days a bit easier!
We’ve already got all of the mod-cons. The wagon, the cabana, the sand-free towels for stuff we don’t want sand on and the netted bags for the stuff we do (don’t mind us a bit of sandcastle making!).
My newest addition is a Holey Mat. These 2x2m sand-free babies are big enough to give us all some space to sit without having to listen to the cries of “stop touching me!”, and they stretch out far enough to fit under the corner posts of my cabana.
They’re made with a soft sand-free fabric so the sand just brushes right off.
Disclaimer: the mats are sand-free but the beach isn’t, so some sand will sneak on your mat. A quick dust off and you’re all good.
If I’m being perfectly honest though, my favourite thing about my Holey Mat isn’t actually the mat. It’s the drawstring bag it comes in! This roomy bag is made out of the same sand-free fabric and it can fit your sunscreen, water bottle, hat and thongs – and more. If I ever make it to the beach without my kids (is that a thing?) this bag will be all I need.
The mat + bag combo makes pack up a breeze – shake it off, shove it in and you are on your way!
